2011-03-26 Mock Trial Detail

We were once again asked to help out at Our Lady of Mercy Mock Trial. While the only Explorer to attend from our post was Mike, I think he had an educational experience seeing what it's like to be on the stand as a police officer. We were provided with some pizza but it WAS a long day under some pressure on the stand. I think all the Explorers need to be commended for giving up a Saturday to help out at this event.

2011-03-19 CPR and First Aid Training

We had ten of our Explorers take the class to be certified in CPR and First Aid. Thank you to Mr Gallardo who gave the class. We hope to have another opportunity for ALL Explorers to take this class.

2011-03-18 Police Officer Geoffrey J. Breitkopf

2011 is shaping up to be the worst in the history of the department with our second line of duty death. Police Officer Geoffrey J. Breitkopf who died in the line of duty on March 12, 2011. Explorers once again showed their allegiance to the NCPD by joined Police Officers from across the nation to morn not only Officer Breitkopf but also AMT Steven Linzer who also died this same week. We had another group of Explorers from throughout the county attend both of these funerals. Thank You to all who attended.

2011-03-06 TOB Polar Plunge

Well we helped out again at a Polar Plunge. This one was to help UCPN (Here's their website)They have some pictures posted there.
we had a few more plungers as well as the rest of the Explorers who kept the crowd back so the plungers could escape the frigid water.

2011-03-05 TONH Polar Plunge

We attended the Town of North Hempstead Polar Plunge and helped out by handing out sweat shirts, parking lot security, securing the helicopter, as well as patrolling the park. We also had a few Explorers take the plunge... this event helped raise funds to benefit the "Special Olympics".

2011-03-04 Post 1000 Award Dinner and Party

We were invited to Post 1000's annual award ceremony and party. While we didn't have the turnout I thought we'd have for a FREE party. Those who attended had a good time.

2011-02-10 Police Officer Michael J. Califano Funeral

This was a sad day for our Police Department. Nassau County Police Officer Michael J. Califano who was killed in the line of duty on February 5, 2011. Explorers joined Police Officers from across the nation to morn the loss of one of our own. We had almost 50 Explorers from throughout the county attend. It did not go unnoticed by the other members of the department. Thank You!

2011-02-07 Assembly Hall Dedication

The assembly hall at our Police Headquarters was dedicated to a prior Police Commissioner "Donald Kane" who passed away last year. He was also an Explorer Board member and a big proponent of the program. Explorers from a number of posts showed up to help with parking lot security, assist civilians through headquarters, as well as working the doors. Thanks to all who helped.

2011-01-17 NYPD Winter Competition

We sent two teams to this years competition and did great. We took a first place with Owen, Natasha, Farhan, and Billy and a second place with Tim, Charles, Paul, and Ryan.
Not a bad showing at all!!!
Sorry. No pictures... Unfortunately I was not able to attend due to the death of my Mother-in-Law.

2010-12-10&11 Childrens Holiday Party

Thanks to everyone who helped out at this event. Some of you pulled double duty helping set up the night before and then attending and helping at the party itself.
I think you guys had some fun though.
